Lot of Belgian Insignia of Major M. Dardenne
A large collection of original Belgian insignia, buttons, epaulettes, and various other small items belonging to Major M. Dardenne.
The lot includes a variety of pre- and post-war insignia, two post-war identification plates, pre- or post-war buttons, unique and rare buttons made in England, two pairs of dress shoulder boards and one pair of standard removable shoulder boards. In general, all items show some wear, oxidation, or minor stains due to age, but overall they are in almost new old stock condition.
One of the boxes holding the shoulder boards has writing on the bottom: Major M. Dardenne, Rue de l'Arsenal 27, Malines. The only online reference I could find regarding Major M. Dardenne is on the website 18daagseveldtocht.be, which mentions a Major Maurice Dardenne, who served as a Major of the III Group, 1st Regiment Army Artillery during the 18-day Campaign.
A fascinating lot of insignia with some interesting history!
