Belgian Personal Affects Chest 2ème Chasseurs Ardennais

€200.00

An original wooden Belgian chest from the 1930s, used to store personal effects in the barracks. The chest belonged to Cpl. (Caporal) Pol Dumont, a soldier of the 2ème Régiment de Chasseurs Ardennais, who were stationed in Bastogne before the outbreak of WWII.

Overall, the chest remains a solid piece, showing some wear and tear on the exterior and hardware. The paper lining has become brittle but is mostly intact. One of the straps used to hold the chest open has snapped. Despite this, the inscriptions on the exterior are still clearly visible and well-preserved.

A good and interesting historical piece, offering a perfect opportunity to begin researching the soldier’s personal history.
