Belgian 53rd Fusilier Battalion Wooden Sign

Original small wooden sign, hand-painted and made from an early type of plywood, from the 53rd Belgian Fusilier Battalion. The sign bears the insignia of the 53rd Fusilier Battalion and is marked with the text: 20e Brig. (Brigade), 53e Bon Fus. (53e Battalion Fusiliers) and 5° Kie (5e Kompanie).

The 53rd Fusilier Battalion was raised in Tervuren in May 1945 and disbanded in December 1945, meaning the sign must date from this period.

Overall, the sign remains in good condition, and the paint is stable with no flaking. There is some minor damage and wear consistent with age and use, but no major damage is present. Two small screw holes are visible, likely used for mounting in the past.
